A family have had to be temporarily rehoused after a blaze ripped through their kitchen.
The fire broke out in Stuart Way, Windsor, shortly after 8pm on Thursday and firefighters from Windsor, Langley and Slough attended the incident.
One hosereel and four breathing apparatus were used to fight the blaze with firefighters remaining at the scene until shortly after 10pm.
Hayley Davies, 24, who lives in Stuart Way, said she was cooking dinner when the woman who lives in the house knocked on her door and alerted her to the blaze.
The woman manage to escape from the property along with her four children who are thought to be aged 18, 15, 13 and eight.
Describing the scene Miss Davies recalled: “Flames were coming out of the door.”
She added: “It went up in a matter of minutes there was lots of smoke everywhere - it was really bad.”
The distressed family fled the property without their shoes and Miss Davies said that neighbours were collecting items to help them out.
Laurence Fowler, Director of Corporate Services for landlords Windsor Housing Association, said the family had been staying with relatives and had now been offered alternative accommodation.
