Maidenhead band set for success

12:00am Wed 27th Feb 08:: written by Daniel Darlington

Unsigned musicians The Vintones look a hot tip for success in 2008 following the launch of their self titled EP at an exclusive party in London.

The four piece garage rockers took Maidenhead by storm before Christmas triumphing at the battle of the bands competition held at Phatz Bar.

Like Lilly Allen and Arctic Monkeys before them the group have built up a solid following of myspace fans and seem to be revelling in the London gig seen playing to trendy crowds across the capital.

The band describe themselves as dirty, filthy, garage rock n' roll and will seek further notoriety at the Surface Unsigned Festival.

Matt Diegan, 20, Sam Cleaver, 19, Kirsty Trice, 22, and Francis Newall are currently surfing the crest of a rock 'n' roll wave.

Confidence couldn't be higher after hitting the road in support of up and coming band the Switches at venues in Portsmouth, Reading, Guildford and Birmingham.

Guitarist, Francis Newall, 20, of Camperdown, Maidenhead, said: "The launch party at China Whites on Monday was a great event and we put in an explosive performance.

"This year is an important one for the band and we hope to generate some more exposure with record labels through unsigned events.
"We are beginning to get our name out there by playing support slots with bands and once we have finished our album we will aim to get some playtime on the radio."

Their debut EP was recorded and mixed by producer Ben Bell and is set for release on February 25.

The band have downloadable tracks of the EP including stand out single Raise the Game available to buy on their myspace page www.myspace.com/thevintones.
