Fundraising bid for teenager's cancer treatment

9:22am Tue 6th May 08:: written by Kelly Rawlings

A family has pledged to raise £50,000 to pay for specialist surgery for a teenager who is battling a brain tumour

Jess Taylor was diagnosed last August but a new set of MRI scans has shown that the cancerous growth is not increasing in size,  which has raised hopes she can travel to America for a life-saving operation.

The 13-year-old has already undergone a complex operation at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
But the procedure failed to kill the malignant growth her family began searching for other treatments.
Mum, Karen Taylor from Marlow Bottom, has pledged to raise £50,000 after learning about specialist surgery in Boston that removes malignant tumours.

She said: "It's very worrying because it's in such a difficult place, which means they cannot operate or take a biopsy because it's too dangerous. The good news is the scans showed it hasn't spread or got any bigger and so it looks like the doctors in America can help."
