Cash For Schools - Don't miss out

6:00am Mon 5th May 08:: written by Kelly Rawlings

The Advertiser's Cash For Schools scheme 2008 is underway.

You can help a school near you win a top prize of £10,000 or a share of another £10,000 by simply collecting tokens from the Advertiser. Special tokens will be printed for eight weeks in the Advertiser from Thursday, May 1until June 19.

There are 44 schools taking part in this year's scheme and each participating school aims to collect as many tokens as possible to give them the best chance of winning the top prize, which will be allocated based on the highest number of tokens collected per pupil at the school.

On top of this, every participating school which collects the equivalent of two tokens per pupil will also receive a share of another £10,000 prize.
Last year’s participants who collected the qualifying number of tokens were each presented with a cheque for nearly £400 – a sum which could be used for any capital expenditure of their choice.

The money is being given away by the Louis Baylis (Maidenhead Advertiser) Charitable Trust, which owns the Maidenhead Advertiser.

Cllr Eileen Quick, the Royal Borough’s lead councillor for children’s services, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for schools to raise money and boost their much-needed coffers.

“If every parent simply gave their child’s school two tokens from the Advertiser printed over the eight week collection period, they would guarantee some kind of cash benefit for that school. And the more tokens you collect, the greater chance you have of winning the top prize of £10,000,
which would be great news for any school.”

If your children, grandchildren, nephews or nieces are at any of them, make sure you give them your tokens to take into school.
But you don’t need a child at a school to still help. Simply collect the tokens and take or send them to the school you want to support – each of which will have a special token collection point set up.

So, make sure you collect the special tokens in the Advertiser every week to help give a vita cash boost to the area’s schools. To find out more about Cash For Schools, or if your school would like to participate, call Sally Ellison on 01628 678248 or email sallye@maidenads.co.uk
