Lita returns from loan spell

2:30pm Mon 21st Apr 08:: written by Nick Meakin

Reading have recalled striker Leroy Lita from his loan spell at Charlton Athletic.

The striker joined the Championship side in March on an initial one-month deal but the loan was extended in April, with the Royals then having a call-back option on Lita.

The England under-21 striker has bagged three goals in eight appearances at the Valley under former Reading boss Alan Pardew but the Addicks' 1-0 defeat at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday ended their hopes of the Championship play-offs.

Manager Steve Coppell said: "Leroy has been playing regular football for Charlton and will be raring to go. It was an obvious decision to make given the fact that we’ve not scored lately.

"I made the call to Alan Pardew late on Saturday. We agreed it would be beneficial to us to bring Leroy back now that it’s mathematically impossible for Charlton to get into the play-offs."

Lita trained with the Royals on Sunday and he is now available for selection for Reading’s vital final three Premier League games of the season.
