Ecuador crash victim's last message to family

4:30pm Tue 15th Apr 08:: written by Luke Cross

The parents of a teenager killed in a horrific coach crash in Ecuador found a loving message from their daughter hours after rushing back to their Maidenhead home.

Indira Swann, 18, was on a bus with a group of other gap year students when it was in a collision with a lorry on Saturday night local time.  Three other gap year students and a tour guide were also killed.

Greg and Louise Swann, of Highway Avenue, found their daughter's last poignant message in the early hours of Monday morning after rushing home from Italy.

The former pupil of Newlands Girls’ School in Farm Road, told her mother of the friends she had made and her hopes for the remainder of the trip, which was a mixture of travelling and volunteer work.

Indira wrote: "Thanks to you and Dad for being so great and for both giving me the opportunity and confidence to do this, but also for giving me such a lovely home that nothing could stop me wanting to come back after."

Mr Swann said this week: "Her motivation was to help people and support people and enjoy life. She was a very conscientious and giving person."

You can post tributes in an online guest book here.
