Magpies match postponed after traffic nightmare

9:30am Mon 7th Apr 08:: written by Graeme Copas

The Magpies face a fixture pile-up at the end of the season after traffic congestion forced the cancellation of their relegation battle with Weston Super Mare on Saturday.

An overturned lorry left the M4 at a standstill meaning the United coach had barely reached Newbury by 1pm having set off from York Road at 11am.

The referee, who was already at the ground, decided to postpone the match at 2pm.

Matches at Bath and Bishop's Stortford opted for delayed kick-offs.

The Magpies will now visit Weston on Thursday, April 17, meaning they face four games in the last 10 days of the season in which to preserve their precarious Conference South status.
