Hit the airwaves with carnival's radio

Do you have the dulcet tones of Sir Terry Wogan or can you improvise your
socks off like Russell Brand?
Jewel FM is heading back to town and the hunt is on for radio presenters to
entertain listeners in the run-up to Maidenhead Carnival.
An application has been submitted to revive the Advertiser-run radio station
after a three year abscence.
Organisers hope it will turn up the volume this summer and help make this
year¹s carnival bigger and better than ever.
Jewel FM will get the party started from May 22 when it takes to the
airwaves with music plus interviews and information about the festivities.
The station is being sponsored by the Louis Baylis (Maidenhead Advertiser)
Charitable Trust and will be based at the Advertiser¹s Bell Street offices.
It will be run by experienced station manager David Garwood who is looking
for volunteers to present their own shows, organise guests and learn how to
use the equipment.
He is calling for potential presenters to send in their showreels over the
next two weeks. He said: "The main thing we will be looking for is
personality and a strong voice.
"I'm hoping we will get a good response and if anyone is thinking about
moving on in radio this might lead on to something maybe even a full time
professional position."
No experience is necessary and to apply all you have to do is compose a five
minute CD or mpeg file showcasing your ability.
Showreels can be either emailed to louisam@maidenads.co.uk or posted to the
address at the end of this story.
If you would like to advertise on Jewel FM contact Eddie Pearce at the
Advertiser on 01628 678200.
Showreels can be posted to: Maidenhead Advertiser, Newspaper House, 48, Bell
Street, Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 3BP, marked Jewel FM Showreel. The
closing date for showreels is Friday, April 18.
