It was a dismal afternoon for Maidenhead sporting clubs with Maidenhead United and Maidenhead Rugby Club losing crucial matches against relegation rivals.  Elsewhere, Reading did their chances of Premier League survival no harm, holding Blackburn Rovers to a 0-0 draw.

Maidenhead United (0) 0– 1 (0) Welling United

The Magpies move into the bottom three of the Conference South after they slipped to a 1-0 defeat to fellow strugglers Welling United at York Road.

Premier League
Reading (0) 0 – 0 (0) Blackburn Rovers

The Royals, who were reduced to 10 men following the second half dismissal of Marek Matejovsky held on for a what could prove to be a crucial point.

Indeed despite being a man short Reading could have picked up all three points with Stephen Hunt and Andre Bikey going close.

Division 1 South & West
Marlow (0) 3 - 2 (1) Godalming Town
Couch 69, 88         Mariner 40
Dickens 86              Olmanny 80

Two goals in the last four minutes saw Marlow grab all three points against Goldaming. Aaron Couch scored twice, and Adam Dickens got the other on his return from injury, as Marlow grabbed their first win in four matches.

Division 1 South & West

RUGBY
South West 1
Reading (27) 32 – 5 (5) Maidenhead RFC

Maids’ hopes of beating the drop suffered a major blow, as they slipped to a 32-5 defeat in miserable conditions at Holme Park.

Despite making a superb start and taking an early lead through Richard Barber, Maids slipped to their sixth successive league defeat.

South West 2 East
Marlow (0) 3 – 10 (10) Salisbury

Marlow’s great escape hit the buffers as they slipped to a 10-3 defeat to in-form Salisbury. Marlow, who had won their previous four matches, did rally in the second half after trailing 10-0 but it was not to be.
