Easter 10 results

12:29pm Sat 22nd Mar 08:: written by Laura Enfield

Blustering winds did not deter 1,450 runners from turning up at the 55th annual Easter 10 run yesterday.

But the battle against the elements took its toll on one entrant who collapsed just 100 metres from the finish line.Emergency services rushed to the scene and the air ambulance made a dramatic landing in the car park.

Paramedics treated the man, who is believed to be in his thirties, at the scene and runners were forced to stop to allow the vehicle to leave with him onboard.

Royal Borough Mayor, Cllr Leo Walters, officially started the race at 9.45am and while the predicted rain never appeared, the high winds made conditions along the route extremely difficult.

Speaking at the end of the race, the winner, Elliot Robinson, from Aldershot , Farnham and District Athletics Club, said: "I\'m pleased to cross the finish line. It\'s hard conditions out there today.
"The weather held off apart from the wind blowing everyone around."
