12:00am Wed 21st Nov 07:: written by Kelly Rawlings

An 18-year-old man was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday  in connection with a cannabis factory in Cippenham.

Son Thai Dang, a Vietnamese national, was found guilty of cannabis cultivation and sentenced to 16 months imprisonment, with a recommendation that he be deported when he has completed his sentence.

On 12 April 2007, police officers carried out a search warrant at an address in Adelaide Close, Cippenham, Slough.
Inside they found numerous plastic bags containing dried cannabis leaves, together with about 1,000 root balls of cannabis plants and equipment needed for large-scale cannabis cultivation.

Dang and another man, aged 20, were arrested and charged with cannabis cultivation. The second man was found not guilty by the court.

PC Sarah Ratcliffe of Operation Falcon’s Proactive Team said: “Thames Valley Police will continue to shut down cannabis factories and bring those responsible to justice.
“I would urge the community to come forward with any information they may have about cannabis production and other drug-related crime.”

Anyone with information can contact police on 0845 8 505 505 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
