Windsor Boys' snatch surprise win at Marlow Regatta

4:38pm Thu 24th Jun 10:: written by Graeme Copas

A surprise victory was in store for first-timers from Windsor Boys’ School Boat Club at world-acclaimed Marlow International Regatta on Saturday.

Shock success came for junior 14 group racing for the first time in the eight-man octuple sculling boat.

With only three practice sessions under their belt, the crew of Simon Moore, Tim Wollen, Hugh White, Fraser Scanlan, James White, Stephen Abrah-am, Jakob Barrott, Troy Franklin and cox Ryan Cahill raced well to win their first-round clash.

But they did much more – taking gold in the final ahead of Sir William Borlase’s School, Abingdon School, Radley College, St Paul’s School and Bedford Modern School.
