Early hours blaze in empty house
12:10pm Thu 28th Jan 10:: written by Francis Batt
Fire crews called to a blaze in an empty terraced house in the early hours of this morning found their way blocked at the front by metal grills.
The house in Lydford Avenue, Slough, was well ablaze at 12.30am. Firefighters went round the back and discovered that the metal shutter there had been forced.
Two teams wearing breathing apparatus fought their way through thick smoke to check that nobody was trapped inside.
It took three hours to bring the blaze under control under the direction of watch manager Hayden Jenkins.
Investigators are searching through the debris to try and find the cause of the fire.
