A blaze destroyed the roof of a derelict building in Lent Rise Road last night.
Flames had taken hold of the building when Maidenhead fire crew arrived at the scene just after 10.50pm.
Firefighter Jason Cross from Maidenhead's white watch, said: "We were the first pump there and it had been going for a while."
He added: "The entire roof was alight and some of the boarding on the upstairs windows had started to catch fire."
In total, two fire crews from Beaconsfield, one from High Wycombe, one from Slough also arrived to fight the fire, assited by the Bucks Command and Control Unit.
They initially tackled the fire from the gorund and when it was deemed safe, two firefighters in breathing apparatus headed inside.
Police were called out to cordon off the road while the fire crews got to work. Fire crews were on the scene until about 2am.
About half of the roof was destroyed by the fire and there was water damage to the first floor.
The empty detached property is thought to have been awaiting redevelopment.
It is being treated as arson and investigations are underway.
