Badnells Pit plan for extra lorry movements

Residents living near Badnells Pit fear that toxic muck could end up on the streets if clearance work on the Blackamoor Lane site is sped up.

A planning application has been put in by an agent for developer Shanly Homes, to almost double the number of trucks used to clear the site.

A spokesman for Shanly Homes said about seven months could be shaved off the two year project if it is approved. The site is being remediated to make way for housing.

But at a meeting of the Badnell's Pit Residents' Monitoring Group on Tuesday residents said although they wanted it over as soon as possible, they were worried overall standards of the operation would drop.

The developer says there will be no overall increase in lorry movements, because another firm, Summerleaze, which operates a mineral extraction business by Maidenhead Lake, is reducing its daily lorry movements in the area.

  • It would be nice to be told what the agreed route for the trucks is and at what time of day they are allowed to be operating. If they do increase the number of vehicle movements, this surely will mean more congestion. I'm still surprised that the Government forced the Council to allow development on a site with a flood risk.Jim
