Rag traded events for charity

12:00am Thu 13th Mar 08:: written by Glenn Mitchell

A tomato-scoffing competition and wheelbarrow race were among some of the events organised during Windsor and Maidenhead College’s rag week in 1983.

Innovative students from the campus in Boyn Hill Avenue were the brains behind the fun, which raised cash for Action Research for Multiple Sclerosis.

A disco at The Bell pub in the town centre, a Give Us a Clue competition with lecturers and tug-of-war were also planned.

Unfortunately bad weather meant the tugof- war between teachers and students had to be cancelled Students also wandered the streets of Maidenhead in fancy dress, encouraging shoppers for donations to the cause.

The students’ fundraising antics resulted in £700 being raised for their chosen  charity.
