The team behind plans to create a navigable waterway through the centre of Maidenhead have released a virtual photographs of how the scheme might look when completed.

The York Stream and Moor Cut channels, including Chapel Arches, might at present look like dried up swamps, but the doctored impressions seek to bring the waterways alive.

The slides were showcased on Thursday at a dinner in honour of Nicky Winton, who is the project’s patron, and show people rowing boats through Chapel Arches and sipping coffee at waterside tables.

The Maidenhead Waterways Restoration Group (MWRG) hope the channels will become a new focus for leisure activities and art in the heart of the town.
