Firefighters tackle blaze at derelict property

5:24pm Tue 16th Jun 09:: written by Gareth McPherson

Fire crews are trying to put out a blaze in Slough that has gripped a derelict terrace property.

Firefighters from Slough, Langley and Maidenhead have been in Windsor Road battling the fire since 3.30pm today (Tuesday).

A spokesman for Berkshire Fire and Rescue said that the fire has taken hold of the first floor and roof of the end-terrace property.

The fire is said to be causing 'traffic chaos'.

Thick smoke could also be seen billowing above Stoke Road earlier today after a fire started at a large shed at the back of City Carpets and Furniture shop and spread to neighbouring shop Gill's.

Flats above the shops are also believed to have been affected.

A spokesman for Berkshire Fire and Rescue said that a 10m by 3m shed caught fire at the back of the parade of shops.

No one is believed to have been hurt.
