Queen opens shopping centre

12:00am Mon 3rd Mar 08:: written by Kelly Rawlings

Crowds turned out to see The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh when they popped to Windsor on Friday.

The couple toured the newly redeveloped King Edward Court Shopping Centre, took a look at the range of beers and beef in the new Waitrose and stopped off to open a care home in the town as well.

Her Majesty unveiled a plaque to formally open the shopping centre.

The Royal Borough mayor Cllr Leo Walters was there to meet the Queen along with the council's Chief Executive David Lunn for whom the Royal visit fittingly marked his last day at the Royal Borough after 25 years of service.
