The future looks bright for an organisation intent on preserving the past.
The project taking place to restore the new home of the Maidenhead Heritage Centre is to receive a cash injection of £12,000 from the Royal Borough's annual grant list.
The boost comes after councillors have been impressed with the work of members to restore the Cricketers Arms public house in Park Street to become its new base.
Richard Poad, heritage centre chairman, said: "This grant from the Royal Borough is tremendous news and a great boost to the final stages of our fundraising campaign. We can now look forward to opening in the late spring and enabling local people to discover the wealth of history on their doorsteps."
Lead of the council, David Burbage, said: "We have all admired the commitment and get-up-and-go attitude shown by members and friends of the centre, which at one time faced an uncertain future."
