Taylor: 'I hope I get linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona!'

It is mid to late November and Wycombe Wanderers are still the only team in the English leagues to remain unbeaten.
It is a record which even boss Peter Taylor could never have imagined when he took over in the summer.
“I never dreamt we’d go 15 matches unbeaten, but the boys deserve it. They’ve all worked really hard,” said Taylor.
“I don’t think about records and things like that, it’s a cliche but we just have to take each match as it comes.”
Managers who enjoy success are often thrust into the national press linked with every vacant job in the game. Taylor’s success at Adams Park has done just that and he has been linked to the vacancy at Watford.
However, the ex-England boss was quick to clarify his faith to Wycombe.
“That’s paper talk, and it is nice to see because it means we’re doing well and I’m happy with what we’re doing here,” he said.
“If we were bottom of the league then I wouldn’t be linked with anyone, so let’s hope I start getting linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona, because that’ll mean we’re doing even better! In all seriousness though I’m happy where I am.”
A 1-0 victory over Bradford City on Saturday added another successful result to the Blues’ League 2 campaign, leaving Taylor to lavish praise on his side’s work ethic.
A solitary Lewis Hunt strike was enough to send the Chairboys four points clear inside the automatic promotion places and Taylor was delighted with the way his side dealt with a dangerous Bantams attack.
“Bradford were a strong side, their two strikers Conlon and Thorne are two very dangerous players,” he said.
“Omar Daley is one of the quickest footballers you’ll see, but we dealt with them all well. It wasn’t just about Lewis Hunt defending solidly on the right, Chris Zebroski was always back helping out, we defended as a unit and that’s what pleased me the most.”
Wycombe entertain Port Vale on Saturday before a trip to Notts County on Tuesday.
