Monye retains England place but Kennedy dropped and Haskell on bench

Ugo Monye has retained his place in Martin Johnson's England team for Saturday's test against Australia at Twickenham.

James Haskell remains on the bench but Nick Kennedy has been dropped from the matchday 22 altogether.

Harlequins winger Monye, whose family hail from Cippenham, one of the stars of the show in England's win over the Pacific Islands at the weekend and it is no surprise to see his name on the team sheet once more in an unchanged back three alongside Paul Sackey and Delon Armitage.

However, ex-Marlow RFC youngster Kennedy also turned in an impressive debut but has been replaced by London Wasps second row Tom Palmer. London Irish lock Kennedy does not even command a place on the bench as Simon Shaw is brought in.

Windsor-born ex-Maidenhead RFC colt Haskell came off the bench at the weekend and it was rumoured that he was in line for a recall to flanker in place of Leicester's Tom Croft, but manager Johnson has opted to field an backrow.

Johnson has recalled World Cup captain Phil Vickery to tighthead prop in place of Matt Stevens, indicating England's plan is to take the Austalians on with power in the pack.
