Free film screenings at Firestation

Fancy a free trip to the cinema?

No, you don’t have to fill out any forms or enter your name into a prize draw – all you have to do is head down to Windsor Firestation.

With pennies tight these days, the arts centre is offering families the chance to get something for nothing. The St Leonards’ Road venue opened last month and is keen to continue the tradition of independent film in Windsor.

And so to celebrate it’s first season of cinema, two free films are on offer every week to anyone with a RBMW Advantage Card.

Sam Hunt, programme manager, said: “Cinema at the Firestation is central to what we do. The Windsor arts centre was known and loved for its film programme and this is something we have always intended to grow upon.”

The Midweek Matinée, on a Wednesday afternoon, is a series of films from the golden age of cinema. Next week will be definitive ballet movie The Red Shoes and later in the month In The Heat of the Night (pictured) with Sidney Poitier.

On Saturday the Kids Club gives adults with an Advantage Card the chance to gain free admission for up to two children as well. The Corpse Bride and The Never Ending Story are some of the fantasy tales on show.

Sam said: “The reason behind offering this unique discount is to show that The Firestation is serious about film, and the importance of having this brilliant cinema placed in the centre of the community. This is our way of saying that this is the town’s cinema and help people in the Royal Borough feel a part of what we are doing. After all we are doing it to serve this community.”
