A hell-raising bassist from a legendary punk band joined a tribute act from Maidenhead on stage at a top music festival last weekend.
Fresh from headlining the Isle of Wight Festival to 40,000 revellers on Saturday night, The Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock shook off his hangover and surprised everyone by hopping on stage with The Small Fakers.
Knowing that Matlock was a big fan of 1960s Mod band The Small Fakers, the band got hold of the bassist's number the week before and the festival and left a message on his phone inviting him to join them for a sing-a-long.
Matt Bond, The Small Faces tribute band lead singer, said: "We got no reply and we weren't holding our breaths as we played the Hipshaker Marquee at the festival on the Sunday afternoon.
"As I introduced him, we got a laugh from the majority of the audience who couldn't see him until he emerged on stage. We were obviously well chuffed but the crowd went mental."
