Magpies hoping to learn from last season

Maidenhead United FC assistant manager Derek Brown is confident that the Magpies can learn the lessons from last season’s relegation dogfight and enjoy a much more successful campaign in 2008/09.
“The idea is to take onboard lessons learnt from last year,” said Brown. “The players and management team learnt a lot and it will be to the club’s credit to put it into practice.”
As part of the reflection on last term and the preparations for next season’s Blue Square South campaign, the York Road coaching staff has decided to take a fresh look at training.
“We had a meeting and we’ve looked at everything from top to bottom in terms of preparation for matches,” Brown revealed.
“We will do it with the players too when they return. We would like to think that we were professional in our approach before, but we would like to think that there’s more variety, especially in training.”
Brown also revealed that the comings and goings at the club have been put on hold temporarily while manager Johnson Hippolyte is away on holiday, but that supporters can expect one or to more signings this summer.
“Still got one or two more players he (Hippolyte) wants to look at, but that will wait until he gets back,” said Brown.
“It’s all building up for a crescendo at the start of pre-season. The players are back in training on June 28.”
