Girls are on the ball at Burnham

10:50am Mon 21st Apr 08:: written by Nick Meakin

Footballers may believe that it's a man's game but it was all about the girls at Burnham Grammar School on Sunday.

A total of 35 girls between the ages of eight and 15 took part in a training session organised by the school's head girl 18-year-old Rebecca Todd who plays centre back for Reading Ladies FC.

The girls took part in a variety of different sessions ranging from work on their technique and skills to playing football with a rugby ball and the best player of the weekend, Ellie Searle, was awarded two tickets to the women's FA Cup final.

Rebecca Todd said: "It was a really good weekend and the girls really enjoyed it. We gave out feedback forms and so far all of them have been very positive.
"We did lots of things with the girls and they all improved over the sessions."

The training was hosted by Rebecca and two her friends Ted Grizzell, 18, and Doug Howie, 16, who all met on a recent Football Association trip to Malawi and who all together make up Zig Zag Football.

Zig Zag's next training session for girls will take place at Burnham Grammar School, Hogfair Lane, Burnham on the weekend of May 28 and 29.

Places cost £25 for the weekend and for more information or to book e-mail zigzagfootball@gmail.com
