Eight more healthy schools

Eight more Royal Borough schools will be presented with Healthy Schools status at a ceremony today.
Cookham Dean Primary, Furze Platt senior, Holyport Primary, Wessex Primary and Woodlands Park Primary are among the successful schools, bringing the total tally of borough schools with the status to 37.
It is not just about healthy eating though. The schools also have to demonstrate they are teaching pupils to have a healthy approach to relationships, drug education and emotional well-being such as developing skills to cope with their feelings and they are taught ways to prevent bullying.
The borough's cabinet member for education, Cllr Eileen Quick, said: “The Healthy Schools awards are all about helping young people to feel healthy in every way, both physically and emotionally, encouraging each and every child to feel good about themselves and enabling them to develop into well-rounded adults.
“A great many people put in a lot of hard work to earn these awards and they are all to be heartily congratulated.”
