Dig deep for club plan

12:00am Fri 17th Feb 06

Insurance pay-outs, following the loss of the original youth club due to a fire in November 2004, have fallen £20,000 short of the sum needed to fund plans for the new building. However organisers and designers of the project are confident the money can be found and are urging organisations and the public to help fulfil the potential of the site. Ben Willcox, of Lewandowski Archi-tects, who designed the new school, said: “This is an exciting project and will provide a fantastic facility for Holyport. “Everybody is working virtually at cost on this project and this shows the commitment we have to it. “We want to help the youth club as much as we can.” Mr Willcox went on to confirm the start date for the project was still pencilled in for Easter. The old youth club building was also used by Holyport Pre-School which, since the fire, has been forced to use cramped temporary accommodation in the car park of the War Memorial Hall. Dhesna Childerhouse, supervisor at the school told the Advertiser: “We have had pledges of donations from organisations around Maidenhead – some of them very generous. “Now it"s time for people to make good on those pledges.” n To donate or pledge money to the appeal or for more infomation about the youth club building project contact Ian Anderson on 01628 783934.
