Two speed
checks in Berkshire East this week saw more than 50 drivers stopped for going too fast.
A total of 24 drivers were stopped along Waltham Road in Maidenhead on Wednesday morning.
Ten were issued with £60 fixed penalty notices and given three penatly points, one driver was reported for summons to court and 13 received
roadside education.
The
second check took place on the Ringmead, Birch Hill, Bracknell yesterday. 27 drivers were stopped. 22 received roadside education, four fixed penalty notices were handed out and one driver had his car seized for driving with no
insurance and with only a provisional licence.
PC Bob Wade, road safety constable for Berkshire East, said: “It is quite clear that the residents want
speed enforcement carried out.
"I am always receiving requests for me to attend
other areas to carry out road safety checks, sometimes by the drivers that I
have just caught.
"I believe we are striking a very good balance of education and
enforcement conducted at the roadside.”
