Start collecting tokens!
Buy the Advertiser to support your community group
We have had a tremendous response to our exciting new Cash For The Community (CFTC) scheme to give funds to local community groups.
More than 100 organisations have registered to collect special tokens printed in the Advertiser to help them raise money for their community group. Groups will be trying to collect as many tokens as possible to be eligible to share part of a £15,000 prize fund. Each group which collects more than 200 tokens will win a share of this prize pot, plus there will be a top prize of £5,000 for the group which collects the most tokens overall.
Tokens will be printed for 10 weeks, until November 27, in the Maidenhead, Twyford and Windsor Advertiser.
This scheme has been made possible through the support of the Louis Baylis (Maidenhead Advertiser) Charitable Trust, which owns the Advertiser.
The money raised by the groups can be used for anything that will benefit their group and the community it serves, such as new equipment, sports kit, computers, funding for a trip or speaker, or put towards a bigger long-term project.
Each week during the scheme a selection of participating groups will be featured in the Advertiser. Plus, all participating groups will be listed on this page on our website with a link to their website, if they have one. (see right).
So, don’t forget to pick up of your copy of the Advertiser this week. Read all the news and then cut out the token and hand it into your chosen community group to help them towards their collection total.
If you have any questions about the scheme please call Sally Ellison on 01628 678248 (10am-2pm) or email on: sallye@baylismedia.co.uk
The featured groups this week are:
Maidenhead Community Responders
Based in Maidenhead, the Community Responders work alongside the Ambulance Service, attending the most life-threatening 999 calls with the aim of arriving first and commencing vital life-saving techniques. Community Responders are volunteers who are willing to give up some of their time to provide this essential backup. Co-ordinator, Andy Crowhurst said: “We have been running for three years now and in that time have attended approximately 350 calls covering the whole range of emergencies. I find it a very satisfying and worthwhile group to be a part of as it is great to be able to put something back into the community.”
The ongoing running costs of the group mean they have to raise funds to keep going. Costs include new defibrillator pads, at £25 per set, which have to be replaced after each use, and telephone bills which cost £10-£15 per month depending on how busy they are.
If you would like know, with a view to joining the group see the contact page on the website.
