Sporting chances
10:48am Thu 3rd Jul 08As this year’s summer sport unfolds, many people ask if British competitors could do better – whether it’s at tennis, cricket, rowing or football.
The dilemma, in my view, is that there are not enough youngsters participating fully in sporting activities. I hope as this year’s school examination period comes to an end, more of our teenagers engage in one or other of the various sports.
With the Olympics due in this country – including events at nearby Dorney Lake – in four years, the incentives have never been greater.
If not enough start now, when will they improve their skills to become the sporting stars of the future?
