Bray almhouses must be saved
9:16am Fri 29th May 09My sister and I, along with families and friends, were devastated to read in Friday’s Maidenhead Advertiser of the proposed closure of Jesus Hospital at Bray.
Our mother spent the last 10 years of her life there, following the death of our father. She was very happy there and valued the care and friendship of the warden. She was so proud to live at no4 which had a lovely view over the back garden.
I used to accompany mum to the service at the chapel there, which is a wonderful building. Having been brought up in Holyport we have known the almshouses all our lives and cannot imagine it being used in any other way than for the elderly of the parish.
We certainly hope that through your newspaper an appeal can be organised to save Jesus Hospital.
