James Thysse and Jamie Facer-Childs will be putting mental and physical limits of human endurance to the test when they become the youngest pair to row across the Indian Ocean next April.
The 21 year-olds who met at Reading Blue Coat School in Sonning, are new to the sport, and are preparing for the great adventure.

Blog 6 - Realisation of reality
There is a beginning a middle and an end to everything. And right now J&J ocean rowers find themselves at the middle of their challenge, before the row has even begun! A bombardment of tasks at hand the pair maintain their relentless physical and mental training that will carry them across the ocean.
While they also manage their time to get the final boat preparations done and arranging their food, both must be ready for shipment to Australia on February 9. On top of their continual pursuit of sponsorship and donations, which will ensure that 'the youngest ever ocean rowing team in history' can be on the row seats, smiling and waving to their family and friends as they begin a three month voyage over the unpredictable waters of the Indian Ocean.
With the pressing time line and steady increase in fitness and preparation, there comes the growing realisation of the reality! Feelings of excitement and dread heighten and spin through their minds. And slowly but surely J&J are coming within reaching distance of their dream.
Three months remain until they begin the venture to set a new record for the youngest ocean rowing pair, and with it the aspiration of becoming the first pair's boat to ever complete the Indian Ocean Challenge.
