WINDSOR FESTIVAL: How I got my book published - review

9:23am Mon 22nd Sep 08:: written by Claire Moulson

A panel of four local writers gave a fascinating insight into the trials and tribulations of getting your book published.

The audience at the Guildhall consisted of aspiring writers, writers hoping to see their names in print, and those who were a bit nosy, like myself, who were interested in hearing the reality of getting your own pages onto the shelves and how plausible it would be.

Authors Chas Newkey-Burden, Melanie Gow, Warwick Cairns and Steve Stack were frank in their take on publishing and their experiences, which were all starkly different.

I heard what I was expecting – ‘expect lots of rejection’, ‘you need a good idea’, but it was not all negative. These were four writers who didn’t give up, and for their troubles, dedication and self-belief, they succeeded.

So those budding writers who attended the literary talk I’m sure will have been inspired to push forward with their dreams and heed the good advice of those who had been through it and come out of the other end.
