Don't fix it if it ain’t broken. That’s the rule these hard rocking bad boys from Sheffield should live by.
A perplexing ‘adult pop’ sound in their 2002 album X left fans reeling at another missed opportunity to harp back to the heady heights of their 1980’s hey-day.
But Songs from the Sparkle Lounge, Def Leppard’s tenth studio album, has captured that spirit.
And belting opener Go sets the mood with Tim McGraw’s anthemic vocals boosted by driving guitars.
The five-piece are never afraid to slip into the ballads and there’s more than one attempt at creating another Stairway to Heaven.
But what really makes this album is the return to the band’s hard-rocking roots. This is sure to resonate with their starved fans who are still clinging onto that irresistible 1980s sound.
