Singers McFly and The Hoosiers are just two of the big name bands in training for a celebrity football match at Reading on Bank Holiday Monday, May 26.

The Soccer Six event involves some of  the biggest names in music, sport, TV, film and entertainment.
Other names taking part in the Soccer Six event are Faithless, Paolo Nutini, and Omid Djalili and Russell Howard’s team of funny men.

Rick Parfitt Jnr has enlisted the help of Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole and Rugby Player Will Greenwood to find a team of big names capable of going all the way and ex pro’s Lee Sharpe, Neville Southall, Dean Saunders, Frank McAvennie, Terry Hurlock, Mickey Thomas and Terry Gibson will be showing they’ve still got it.

Soccer Six founder Mark Abery said: “We’ve been trying to get McFly to enter a team for a few years now and we’re delighted that this is the year they’re taking part. The Hoosiers are a great new band and with lead singer Irwin being such a huge Reading fan they should really be up for it.

"We’ve still got some really big names to announce so it’s shaping up to be a star studded event.”

Tickets are on sale now and are priced at £12 for adults and £8 for juniors under 12. Family tickets are £34 (2 adults, 2 juniors) and £40 (2 adults, 3 juniors). Tickets for over 65s are £10.
