When U2 took to the stage in South America for their Vertigo tour, they were about to give the rest of the world a real treat.
This first ever all-live, all-digital 3D experience is coming to the BFI Imax in London, running from May 2 - June 1.
Review
Let me get one thing straight. This is NOT simply seeing a concert at the cinema. Oh no. It is much more than that.
As soon as you don the ridiculously huge 3D specs, you are transported into the stadium. One minute you’re in the crowd, shouting and screaming with the rest of the fans, the next you’re on stage, staring at a 30ft Bono and his flamboyant hat and dominating stage presence.
The atmosphere is the most electric I’ve ever felt from a cinema, not particularly from the people that surround you, but from the thousands of them on the big screen.
If you don’t consider yourself the biggest U2 fan, this really is a step above simply listening to their studio recordings, and definitely worth your time.
If you do consider yourself the biggest U2 fan however, seeing this film is more of a rite of passage than a simple trip to the pictures.
