Crazy for You - Desborough Suite
11:08am Thu 24th Apr 08:: written by Carla DelaneySong and dance is alive and kicking in Maidenhead with the town's Musical Comedy Society which presented a rousing production of George and Ira Gershwin's Crazy For You.
It was the swan song for talented choreographer Gemma Hough who took centre stage in the demanding lead role singing famous tear jerkers such as Someone to Watch Over Me.
She's off to Ireland for a couple of years and is a hard act to follow. But there's plenty of talent in the wings. Sally Rowlandson should be given a juicy part in their next show after a great cameo as dumb blonde Patsy.
Full marks too to Ryan Stevens who revived song and dance with gusto. But for many it was the stiff upper lip duo, Geoff Clarkson and Pam Pitts, who stole the show as the Fodors, and Trevor Begley as gormless cow poke Moose.
Seamless stage changes, polished dance routines and rousing choruses made for a great night out with this company who staged the latest show in memory of founder Eric Wimpenny who died last year.
