The Eye (15) – Another week, another Hollywood Asian horror remake, this time a glossy rehash of the Pang brothers’ distinctly average tale about a woman who can see into the supernatural world after an eye transplant. Starring Jessica Alba and Alessandro Nivola.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (15) – Our own Russell Brand (pictured) is displaying evermore Faust-like success as he woos Hollywood with his turn as a rock star boyfriend in this rom-com. Jason Segel is the schlub who loses the titular girl (Kristen Bell) to the hirsute Essex Casanova, only to meet the pair on holiday in Hawaii.

The Oxford Murders (15) – Adaptation of the best-seller set in Oxford University. A professor and student work together to stop a series of murders apparently linked by maths symbols.
Starring John Hurt and Elijah Wood.

Persepolis (12A) – Something of a one-off this, and an arthouse hit. Based on Marjane Satrapi’s comic book, this animation charts her life as a young woman growing up in the oppressive Iran that emerged after the 1979 revolution.
