Cippenham-born Lizzie Massey is the female singer in the otherwise testosterone fuelled band called Deadbeat.

"I try to keep them in line!" said a feisty Lizzie who met the rest of the crew while studying songwriting in Brighton.

Lizzie said: "It is very different playing as a band. We formed in September 09 and we couldn't really decide what kind of music we wanted to play.

"In the end it naturally went into funk and groove sounds. My original stuff was me and an acoustic guitar, more soul-based this is more up-beat and just such fun."

It all started one wintery night with Oli, Marcus, Jim and Lizzie sat in Under The Bridge studios jamming out the "Jimi Hendrix" chord trying to write their first song. After countless fag breaks (Oli's fault) and Jackie's speciality cups of tea, "Quite Like You!" was written.

In a matter of months Deadbeats had come a long way, getting to the grand finals of the UK's infamous Soundwaves Battle of The Bands, and performing at Brighton venues such as The Providence (Western Road), The Prince Albert, and The Ocean Rooms.

LISTEN: Hear their track, Trigger Happy here.
