Slough-based rapper Lex Jones developed a love for music at a young age and has never looked back.
By the age of 11 he had realised his talent for arranging words in a rhyming pattern - 'spitting' - and has developed his style of rapping into songs which impressed judges so much at the King of the Mic Contest 2009 at Jagz, Ascot, he won the competition.
This was a positive experience for Lex, as he says, because "it was good to see there is the infrastructure and active urban music culture in Berkshire."
The former schoolboy of Desborough, Maidenhead, who lives in Britwell, also impressed independent Slough record label Rapture UK, and is about to release his first record with the label entitled 'Ever Had That Feeling.'
Lex said: "This is my first release on a record label so I am a very excited young man right now. I am also excited about being committed to a label that's a little bit off centre."
The 24-year-old is produced by fellow music lover and former school friend, Grey Area Thinking.
He says his influences growing up have been Boards of Canada, MGMT, Black Kids along with UK grime acts such as Dizzee Rascal.
He also admits to listening to all genres of music.
He said: "A lot of my songs tend to come from my own thoughts but a lot of them are about concept and I like to create abstract worlds, and in every single song I like to create a new world."
The future is beginning to look very bright for Lex. He added: "For this split second things are going my way. Just being heard and being at the point where people want to hear my music is what the goal is. And I am intent on working as hard as I can to get there."
