Formally Here Goes Everything, this five-piece have risen again as Girl Afraid in a bid to freshen up their band and outlook.
This Maidenhead-based band has achieved considerable success, and the members have decided to take a step back to shake up their musical career.
Lead singer Luke Roberts said: "Without sounding big headed, we were getting quite a lot of attention and it was getting a bit silly. We weren't really ready for it. So now although musically we are going down a similar route, it has given us a chance to drop off the radar a bit and have some time away from gigging."
The line-up has remained the same, but the band has become a little more introverted and aim to focus on writing for themselves and doing it for the love of it.
However Luke assures us that "the spark is still there. Don't you worry about that."
Named after a Smiths song, who they name as one of their influences, Girl Afraid has recently released 'Five Weeks In Nebraska' and are due to play at Windsor's Firestation later this year.
Their acoustic version of 'I'm Not Trigger Happy, I've Just Got An Itchy Finger', was selected for Last.fm's 'Recommended Download" podcast earlier in the year. The single is out on Spotify, Amazon, iTunes, and Rhapsody.
Girl Afraid is working on tracks to become part of an EP at the end of the year and they plan to tour in early 2010.
