Budding rock stars can hone their talents this summer at Readipop’s three musical workshops.

Each five-day course concludes with a live performance and CD recording at Reading’s PlugnPlay studios in Milford Road.

Nine to thirteen year-olds can enjoy ‘Band Camp’ which includes many activities such as song writing, singing, and percussion.

‘Rock Academy’ lets musicians or groups over 14 receive professional coaching and instrument tuition alongside many other activities.

‘Beats ‘n’ Lyrics’ is for urban musicians also aged 14 plus.  MCs, DJs and singers can develop their mixing and producing skills using top of the range equipment.

Sessions are run by Readipop’s experienced tutors who come from a variety of musical backgrounds.

Readipop coordinator and music leader Rob Gilmour, said: “Readipop is an arts charity that offers different music projects to young people and the community.

“We ran ‘Rock Academy’ last year because we wanted to offer workshops to everyone. It went really well and people wanted to do it again. This summer’s workshops should be really good fun."

He added: “We spend our whole time making music with people, which is what it’s all about for us.”
