The world of rock and pop is bracing itself for an onslaught of powerhouse tunes from The Flamistics.

The youthful quartet have their origins in Berkshire, with singer Justin Swaddling hailing from Burnham, and drummer Christian Derie living in Windsor.

The foursome, with Pat Avery on guitar and Tom White on base, formed eight months ago when they met while studying at the London College of Music.

The group's funky sound has seen them gain recognition at various venues across London but they are set for the biggest gig of their lives, headlining the West End's Metro club on Friday, March 14.

Established acts like Bloc Party, Maximo Park and Editors have all headlined the venue which is seen as a major stepping stone to success.

The Flamistics are keen to follow in the illustrious footsteps of those who have rocked there before them.

"The Metro Club is well recognised as an important venue to play," said singer Justin, who lives in Iona Crescent, Burnham.

"We did a support act there a couple of months ago and the manager of the place said we were the best act he had seen in a long while.

"We were given a raging encore which was a real surprise as you never expect that for a support act."

The Flamistics have timed the release of their debut album, Standing Up To You, to coincide with the Metro gig.

Justin is currently studying for a masters in audio technology from the London College of Music, and has put his free time to good effect, piecing together the album at Ealing Film Studios.

"I have been able to put together a very reasonable and professional product," said Justin.
"Which I am looking forward to promoting."

The up and coming band are generating quite a buzz from their myspace page and are considering placing their album on Apple ITunes for the public to download.
