Dedicated followers of fashion worried the closure of Marlow Bridge could dent their shopping habits can rest easy thanks to a new delivery service.
Independent shop Gatsby Menswear, in West Street, Marlow, has launched the scheme to help it reach customers who might otherwise struggle to make it to the store.
Traffic around the town has been particularly bad since Saturday, September 24, when a lorry weighing more than 10 times the bridge’s weight limit attempted to cross, forcing it to shut.
And now, rather than waiting for fashionistas to struggle into the town, the retailer can now load up a branded Fiat 500 and take clothing selections to them.
Owner James Mulchrone said: “We could talk all day about the negatives [of the bridge being closed], but in reality we’re a destination store that people come to for a particular garment and we’re not that reliant on passing trade.”
