SportsTALK: Up for the cup?

FA Cup fever came to the region this weekend as Slough Town, Burnham and Flackwell Heath tried to push on and get into the next round.

Though it's unlikely any of our sides will make it to Wembley this season Burnham and Flackwell Heath did enough on Saturday to stay in the FA cup for now

Before all of that, the spotlight was on Maidenhead United, who failed to notch a single point in two games last week and slipped to 11th in the Conference South.

Dan and Michael - alone in the SportsTALK broom cupboard this week as Graeme travels around America – discussed what was missing for The Magpies before turning to the magic of the cup.

Unfortunately for Slough, the magic was nowhere to be found as they became the victims in a classic cup upset.

Hellenic League side Ardley United visited Holloways Park on Saturday and left with a place in the next round at The Rebels' expense.

It was better news for Burnham as they threw off the shackles of a difficult start to their league campaign with a rousing win to march on along the (long) road to Wembley.

The podcast team saluted the Blues and wondered whether this could be a catalyst to push their season into second gear.

Hellenic League minnows Flackwell Heath also managed to hang on in there and force a replay against higher league opposition.

The Heathens will rematch Wantage tomorrow after a stirring comeback.

Outside of the famous competition, there was recognition for Mick Woodham’s Windsor team, who hit six of the best past Mole Valley.

Finally, look out for an ‘expert’ analysis of the weekend’s rugby in Graeme’s absence as Maidenhead, Windsor and Marlow were all in action.
