Rugby players to star in Heston's new show tonight

Cook Like Heston (channel 4) Players from Marlow Rugby Club will hit small screens tonight in How to Cook like Heston on Channel 4.

They feature in the show after they took on a challenge from world famous chef Heston Blumenthal to cook a beef burger. Mark Robertson, Jamie Gillespie and Tom Kanchanawat all took on the challenge.

Manager of the Riverwoods Drive club site Linda Gillespie, who watched the filming which took place in November last year, said the boys all performed well in front of the camera. "They had all been practising their recipes for a while so they were very well prepared when it came to the day," she said. "Lots of friends and family came down for the filming, which lasted three days, to show their support. It was a great atmosphere."

Each player had to prepare and cook their own beef burger recipe on an outdoor barbecue despite the cold temperatures.

Heston then tasted each burger and delivered his verdict before having a go at the recipe himself, demonstrating how he thought it should have been cooked.

"I think he was really impressed with all of the boys efforts and they had a lot of cheeky banter," Linda added. "I think he took a sincere interest in what they were doing and they built up a genuine rapport."

Cook Like Heston (channel 4)She said the boys even spent the day cooking with Heston in Bray after filming had finished.

Episode 1 of 6 of How to Cook like Heston is on Channel 4 tonight at 8pm.
