Britton expecting win from in form Royals

Windsor RFC coach Paul Britton expects his side to beat league leaders Wootton Bassett this weekend if they match the high standards they have set in recent weeks.

Britton’s men did not play on Saturday but in their last outing a fortnight ago Windsor achieved a 29-10 victory over Grove, who were unbeaten and topped the table at the time.

That victory followed the 44-8 beating of Tadley, and Britton is confident of a third win on the trot tomorrow (Saturday).

“Wootton Bassett have won three from four although they have lost at home, but we know it’s going to be a tough game for us,” he said.

“We’re in good form and confident mood, so I’m expecting us to give them a hard time.

“If we play as well as we did against Grove or Tadley we will beat them.”

Despite having no scheduled fixture last weekend Britton gathered his squad for a training session.

The coach outlined the importance of utilising gaps in the schedule to maximum effect.

“Our training sessions have put us in good stead the last couple of weeks and we came down on Saturday, so we’re good to go,” he said.

“The squad enjoy each other’s company whether it’s a training session or a game and things seem to be going well.

“We know there’s going to be runs of four or five games coming up, so we like to make the most of the time we’ve got together without the pressure of a match.”
