Southern area title fight to top the bill at Maidenhead boxing show

A fight for the lightweight Southern Area title will top the bill at a packed night of boxing in Maidenhead on Saturday, March 30.

The event ‘Born n Bred’ is being run by WCBC boxing promotions and will be staged at the Magnet Leisure Centre.

It will feature fighters from Maid-enhead’s Boxing Evolution club as well as others from around the country and as far afield as Romania.

Matt Flavell, who runs Boxing Evolution, will help organise the show on behalf of WCBC and is providing the home fighters.

Maidenhead’s Ian Henry tops the bill, fighting Johnny Cooper for the vacant lightweight Southern area title. Burnham’s Charlie Banks, 17, will also be action.

The event is the first of a series of quarter year shows being put on by Boxing Evolution, the next of which has already been booked. Former wor-ld heavyweight cha-mpion David Haye has agreed to be a guest.

Born n Bred will be staged in the Pearce Suite at the Magnet, which can hold up to 600 people. The event is also being broadcast live on www.box-ingevolution.tv for £3.99.

Standard seating for the show is £30 while a VIP table costs £40. Doors open at 6pm, boxing starts at 7pm.
