Robson and Sells tee off as club captains
Gary Robson and Tina Sells are the new captains at Maidenhead Golf Club.
At the traditional captains’ drive-in, club captain Robson drove his ball 174 yards while the tee shot of women’s captain Sells went 96 yards.
Robson, who retired in 2003 after working for Mars as European technical support manager, chose golf as his future main hobby
His selected charity for the year will be The Rainbow Trust, which provides emotional and practical help for families who have a child suffering from a life-threatening or terminal illness.
In addition, Robson is planning a one-off project to raise funds for improving the club’s practice facilities.
Sells also retired in 2003 following an extensive and rewarding career in teaching.
Her charity choices for 2012 are Maidenhead Mencap and SportsAble.
During 2011 the club’s captain, Jamie Williamson, raised £12,488 for armed forces charity Help for Heroes.
Women’s captain Mary Bastow £4,400 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
